Challenge

Located in the centre of Borehamwood, Isopad House is a residential development providing approximately 150 high-quality apartments. It was created by Assael Architecture using a contemporary design approach, with a vision of the statement building acting as a ‘gateway’ development. Integral to developer Heronslea was our presence & support in an inaugural, supply only deal.

Solution

We quashed the developer’s apprehensions rapidly by maintaining strong communication & demonstrating presence onsite during installs at Isopad House. We provided ongoing support throughout the balcony install process, listening to concerns and quickly resolving any minor issues. True to our core values, we delivered by exceeding expectations and ensuring matters were dealt with both fairly and efficiently. Thomas Anderson Steels, a trusted Sapphire install partner, were on site with our support fitting the Glide-On™ Cassette®. The prefinished balconies arrived ready for install and were then fitted onto the pre-erected support arms, ensuring rigidity. Completing the 94 Cassette®, Rigid. Ready. Right.

Installation process

Step 1: Cast in anchors were cast into the slab & incorporated thermal break connections offering superior rigidity to the balconies. Areas with deep internal floor build-up had post fixed connections bolted to the top of the slab.

Step 2: Cassette® balconies were prefinished offsite, including the balustrades, decking & soffits.

Step 3: Cassette® balconies were transported via steel pallets on trailers with four balconies ‘nested’ onto each pallet making transport both cost-effective & safe.

Step 4: Once lifted into position, the Cassettes® simply Glide-On™ to the pre-erected support arms, before completing the simple mechanical fixings.
